Pregnancy discrimination may lead to wrongful termination

In today's society, it is not unusual for mothers to hold full-time jobs. With various options for child care, many people feel comfortable with this type of arrangement. Of course, before their children are born, many expectant mothers may fear for their jobs, and unfortunately, pregnancy discrimination can make it difficult for women to stay employed.

New York readers may be interested in one out-of-state woman's situation relating to such discrimination. The woman worked for a car rental service, and she claims that she was treated unfairly at work and then later dismissed from her position due to her pregnancy. It was not detailed what types of actions she faced while on the job.

Due to the woman's belief that this type of discrimination took place, she has filed a lawsuit against her former employer. She claims that she suffered lost wages, lost benefits, emotional anguish and other negative impacts as a result of the situation. She hopes that a successful legal claim will allow her to obtain back wages, compensation for resulting damages and reinstatement to her previous position.

Pregnancy discrimination has no place in any industry, but many workers are negatively affected by it. If New York workers feel that they were fired from their jobs or otherwise mistreated by their employers due to pregnancy, they may wish to consider their legal options. Interested parties may wish to consult with experienced attorneys in order to gain evaluations of their cases and to determine what courses of action may best suit their needs.
